Send an SMS or email with your account number, contact details to switch to emailed accounts

14 April 2025

All residents should note the deadline to switch to emailed municipal accounts before 31 December 2025 and send their email address and account number via email or SMS. More than 442 000 accounts are already being sent via email. The City will no longer send printed bills after 31 December 2025. Residents without access to email are encouraged to contact the City’s Call Centre for assistance.

‘We are making steady progress to reduce the number of accounts which we print and send via the South African Postal Service. We’ve made it easy to receive both business and residential accounts via email. All you have to do is send an email or SMS with both your account number and email address to request an emailed account before 31 December 2025.

‘As a caring city, the City will ensure that all account holders with no email access will receive assistance. They are advised to call the City’s Call Centre so we know about them and can assist them. Emailed accounts make it simple for account holders to keep track of their bills, and use the accounts for proof of residence. Saving on printing and postage costs contributes to a more financially and environmentally sustainable organisation,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.
